In my last post, I wrote about why I will still watch The Walking Dead after having my heart handed to me, all the emotions I’m still feeling and why I consoled myself with romance novels this week.
Here are some I highly recommend. All have a happy ending in case you were wondering…
The Princess Bride, by William Goldman a classic in every sense of the word. It has everything…
The Grandson: A book?
Grandpa: That’s right. When I was your age, television was called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today I’m gonna read it to you.
The Grandson: Has it got any sports in it?
Grandpa: Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles…
If you’ve only seen the movie, read the book, there is so much more to the book than the movie. We all know that, though, right? Seriously, there are missing chapters and everything…oh and the ending is different…
For those of you who haven’t seen the movie OR read the book, download NOW!
Kristen Ashley, Motorcycle Man (Own the Wind is my particular favorite in the spin-off from MM) Also check out her Unfinished Heroes series, The Magdalene series, Rock Chick series or The Colorado Mountain series.
Julie Garwood, Saving Grace (true story: I wrote a college paper on this book for a Woman’s Studies course – on how romances are feminist literature – I’m happy to say I got an A on the paper, though the prof wasn’t convinced)
Karina Halle, The Pact (Just plain ‘ol contemporary fun!)
Megan Hart, Dirty (Hot and dirty, right??)
Ella James, Sloth (Very good suspense/mystery with the romance!)
Elle Kennedy, The Deal (Makes me wish I could have dated a hockey player in college)
Aly Martinez, Fighting Solitude (This is the 3rd book in the On the Ropes series, so if you’re picky start with the first book Fighting Silence!)
Cat Porter, Lock & Key (Best first book I ever read…I even went online to try and find what other pseudonyms she may have written under, I didn’t. Instead, I found the author and she swears this is the first romance novel she’s written. Best first book ever…okay *maybe* Harry Potter…still…)
Nalini Singh, Slave to Sensation (one of my all-time favorite books!)
Kylie Scott, Play from the Stage Dive series (her Dive Bar has me hooked too!)
Karin Tabke, The Chronicles of Katrina (Sexy hot cop? Fun, fabulous romp? What more could you need in a romance?)
If you’re still in the mood to have your heart handed to you (God help you!), I highly recommend Tarryn Fisher’s books. Mud Vein, The Opportunist (series), Marrow and F*ck Love. But I’ve warned you, these books will make you feel again.
Another angsty favorite is TM Frazier, you never know what you’re going to get with her! I just downloaded her latest, Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater Part One. I figure this will prepare me for the next episode of The Walking Dead since Preppy was supposed to be dead and then he wasn’t…so maybe…just maybe….
